"A GRAND DAY OUT"
The Coy's Festival at Silverstone left the track clear for the "real" race teams.
Malcolm qualified fourth 2.5 seconds clear of Richard Chamberlain's Porsche.
Another "trademark" Hamilton start out the car in fifth place after the first corner (and with some minor body damage courtesy of a Ferrari). The first few cars were overhauled easily to leaving the E-Type chasing the bright orange Porsche of Richard Chamberlain.
A terrific battle ensued over the next few laps, with Malcolm able to catch the Porsche but not quite overtake it on the corners. Somewhere about half distance Malcolm managed to squeeze past into the lead (out of sight, much to the disappointment of the Malcolm Hamilton fan club) where he stayed for the rest of the race. Backmarkers were despatched quicker than ever with the addition of some "bugger off out of my way" lights on the front of the car. (pics soon).
In summary, pole position, fastest lap, lap record, race win. A grand day out.
